My first born
This day, 5 years ago, we gave birth to our first born son - Diego Benito.
I still remember him being this small, when he used to fit perfectly in my arms.
I remember his chubby cheeks that we so often plant a kiss on.
Today, he turns 5. He’s still a small boy, I know. But to me, it feels like he’s all grown up.
To Diego, my dear son -
I am so proud to be your Nanay.

Today's agenda
I have mixed feelings about work today. A side of me dreads going to court for the hearing. I don’t really look forward to seeing my opposing counsel. Not now, not ever. Another side of me wants to get this whole ordeal over and done with so we can end this thing the soonest possible time.
As consolation, I’ll be swinging by a mall after work to look for this dress.
It’s...
oh my poor heart!
I’m still here. Just extremely busy… and tired.
There was a downpour of work to do, party preparations, then the boys got sick. As I write this, the little one is still sick although we’re now down to just low-grade fever. Will be taking him to his pedia in the afternoon.
Amazingly, I’m still holding up pretty well. As they say, mothers are not allowed to get sick. With...
Roarrr!
My brain feels like it’s been beaten up. It’s work-related. Long story. Funny though, because my way of de-stressing is to do more thinking. But the fun kind.
We’ll be having a party a month from now and I am finalizing party plans. As you may know, this year’s theme is monsters and we’re all excited to do just that. Ever since, all parties were held at home....

Sneak-peek
The boys’ birthdays are coming up. Their birthdays are exactly one week apart so we’ve decided to hold a joint celebration after Damian’s birthday.
Diego’s set on the theme as early as last year, so I had quite a long time figuring things out for the party. The party activities and menu are set, and that is a load-off already.
Now, roughly a month before we celebrate, I...
Chocolate dipped marshmallows
To lure my mind away from a lethal dose of disappointment I got from work recently, I made these.
Chocolate dipped marshmallows with happy sprinkles. I really need to be surrounded by happy things right now, so I decided to use happy colors for the treats. I really like how these turned out. They make me smile and makes me want to nibble on one but I’m saving tonight’s batch for...
The best pasalubongs come in pretty boxes
My dad came home from his month-long trip to the US last Monday and handed me one of the best pasalubongs ever!
One of my aunts sent a box of Godiva assortments. I delayed opening the box for fear I’d finish all of it in one sitting. That is very possible. But heck! I can’t just keep it in the box forever.
Which piece to get is always a tough decision to make.
I ended up...
My first bento
I finally tried my hand on bento-making last Monday and was able to send Diego to school with this for lunch.
Actually, bento refers to packed meals in general. So, to be more accurate, this kind of bento is called Oekakiben or picture bento. More on bentos here.
Diego wanted to bring fish and rice for baon that day. It’s not really that fancy. I just cut a few strips of nori and...
Cloth Diapering a Ten-Month-Old
Ten months into cloth diapering and things are running as smooth as ever. Nothing much has changed, we’re still on the same stash, using the same settings except that Damian’s absorbency needs increased since he’s taking in more and more solids and more and more liquids.
Like what I mentioned in my previous blog entry on cloth diapers, we use two kinds of cloth diapers -...
Mantra
If I want something, I make it happen.
I am 30.
The first act of Thirty-hood: enjoy my cup of tea.
Next: cuddle with the husband.
I am liking it already!
The selfish me
I’ve lost sleep for the past few days because I am determined to be selfish. In 3 days a few hours minutes, I turn 3 decades old and I am set on giving in on one of my longest cravings - getting myself a nice bag. Oh yes, what better way to embrace the 30s than to adorn my arm with a nice bag?!
I had 3 bags on my list. Well, actually there are more but I have to narrow it down, or else...
Girls are scary
We’re entering our third week in pre-school today. Diego has adjusted well to the routine and has nicely acclimated himself with the new school environment, except for one thing - girls.
For the past two weeks, he cried whenever he’d fall in line with his classmates before going inside the classroom. I assumed that it was part of the usual first day blues, so everytime tears would fall down his...
Damian at 10 months
This cute little curly-haired monster just turned 10 months old. TIme flew faster this time around, our baby ball is going to be a toddler in just 2 months!
So, before he outgrows my memory of what he can currently do, let me share with you some feats this little one has mastered in this length of time.
1. Crawl. This is his most efficient skill in terms of getting himself to different parts...

School Lunch
Diego’s class hours are from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. That means he eats his lunch in school, which also means we have to prepare his lunch kit everyday.
The first week of school was pretty easy because he only went to school twice, they being on adjustment schedule. I had a lot of fun planning and preparing his baon for school.
This was his lunch on the first day: half a cup of brown...
Thought #1
I believe in politeness and courtesy even when facing adversity. We don’t have to be rude or offensive just to get the message across.
Diego's Big Day
All parents with school-age children are most likely at their busiest this time of the year. And that includes us. Yup, as of Tuesday (June 15) Datu and I have officially joined the P sector in P.T.A. Diego is now a full-time student. He goes to school at The Growing Place (TGP) in Fairview and attends the 4s and 5s class.
We were all excited for Diego’s first day of school. It was a big...

The ultimate espresso dream
Datu loves coffee. It is one of the things he can’t live without (next to that would be toilet paper). Well, he did try living without coffee when he went on a detox diet but that only lasted for a week. I don’t think he’d be doing that ever again.
Unfortunately, I don’t share the same love for coffee. I gave up coffee drinking eight years ago when I entered law school. To...
Feeling Vintage-y
My husband got me a hat as pasalubong from his recent trip to Australia. It’s a cloche. A brown felt hat with a little buckle and a brim.
I love it! It reminds me of Louise Brooks and Flapper girls. It makes me crave for floral dresses, oxfords and red lipstick. And it makes me want to clutch pearls and lounge on our 40-year-old chair the whole day.
I haven’t had the chance to wear...
My blog's new home
For the longest time, I have been contemplating on leaving Multiply for a number of reasons.
1. My contacts there have slowly become inactive, if not disappeared.
2. My inbox is now flooded with posts from sellers rather than friends.
3. It’s getting lonely in there. As my husband puts it, it’s dead.
I was just hesitating because I’ve gotten attached to it. It has been my...
